August 2013 – The Statute
Governor Quinn signs the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act into law making Illinois the 20th state to legalize medical cannabis. October 2013 – The Partnership
Realizing the scope and scale that would be required of operations in Illinois due to the size of the state population & limited number of cultivation licenses, finding a professional partner with extensive operating experience was necessary. In Colorado, Cresco meets with executives at Denver Relief, Denver’s longest operating cultivator & dispensary.
September 2014 – The Application
After a year of compiling all of the elements, it was time to complete what is regarded as the most comprehensive & thorough application process that the industry has seen. Every element of the application had to be articulated & every component of the company’s makeup had to be identified & verified. Incredibly challenging but appropriate for this program.
February 2015 – The Result
Governor Rauner issues cultivation licenses to the top scoring applicants in each district. The State had reviewed 159 applications for 21 total licenses. Fortunately, Cresco was awarded cultivation licenses in all three of the districts in which they applied. In addition, Cresco was identified as having the top three scores of all 159 applications reviewed.
