Cresco Labs Opens Yellow Springs Cultivation Facility and Shows Off Newly Planted Crop Of Medical Marijuana

Yellow Springs, OH, October 8, 2018 — Just three weeks after being awarded their certificate of operation from the State of Ohio, Cresco Labs showcased their crop of plants today during a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour of their large-scale medical marijuana cultivation facility. The company will grow nearly 30 unique strains of marijuana which will be sold at dispensaries across the state.

We’re happy to be fully operational here in Ohio and one step closer to providing relief to patients suffering from a variety of medical conditions. We look forward to bringing awareness about this program and to helping eliminate the age-old stigma associated with marijuana – we want it to just be called medicine.

At the Yellow Springs facility, visitors saw a climate-controlled vegetation room with vertical metal racks containing clones, transplanted cubes and potted marijuana plants. As clones are placed to cubes they are tagged with a unique barcode to track their lifecycle seed to sale.

Cresco Labs grow facility is a state-of-the-art hybrid greenhouse with an energy efficient design designed to maximize the cultivation power of the sun and reduce the carbon footprint that typically results from sole indoor agriculture. Based in Chicago, Cresco Labs operates in six states making them the largest operator in Ohio.

The company will offer a full suite of pharmaceutical-grade products in Ohio that provide patients with consistent, controlled dosage. Their brands (Cresco, Remedi, Reserve and Mindy’s Edibles, an infused edible line with James Beard Award-winning chef Mindy Segal) include flower, edibles, vape pens/cartridges and multiple forms of medication delivery including oral sprays, pills, and transdermal patches. Cresco plans for these products to be available at dispensaries across Ohio in early January to patients who have been physician-certified to have any of the 22 approved medical conditions.

“The state of Ohio has done a great job keeping things moving forward with the launch of this program,” Bachtell added. “It’s not only a new program but still a relatively new industry and they are being very thorough in making sure everything is done right, which will ultimately benefit the patients.”

Participating in the ribbon cutting were Yellow Springs Mayor Pam Conine, Village President Brian Housh and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karen Wintrow. Ohio State Representative Rick Perales and State Senator Bob Hackett also joined Cresco Labs CEO Charlie Bachtell and President Joe Caltabiano.

(Yellow Springs, OH) A milestone in Ohio’s Medical Marijuana industry was set today as Cresco Labs was the first to break ground on their cultivation facility in Yellow Springs. Cresco will develop a 50,000-square foot environmentally-sound greenhouse that will grow and harvest condition-specific strains of medical marijuana that will be available in dispensaries to physician-certified patients across the state by June.

Cresco was awarded a Level 1 cultivation license by the Ohio Department of Commerce just two weeks ago and says they are focused on being one of the first companies to provide relief to qualified patients across the state. After achieving the top three cultivation application scores in Illinois and the second highest score in Pennsylvania, Cresco is proud to again rank in the top ten in this very competitive and thorough licensing process in the state of Ohio.

“We’re excited to be the first to break ground and move one step closer to providing relief to patients across the state,” said Charles Bachtell, CEO of Cresco Labs. “This is the launch of the most thoughtful and balanced regulated medical marijuana program in the country – the result of a truly engaged government that cared about getting it right for its citizens, a community that embraced being a part of this project and a company that puts patients first and is setting the standard for how this industry develops. We are all celebrating today.”

Cresco Labs is a leading innovator in the development of pharmaceutical-grade, dose-regulated medical cannabis products across the country. They have also applied for a dispensary license and will apply for a processing license which, through industry-leading extraction methods, will produce pharmaceutical-grade oral sprays, sublingual and digestible tablets, transdermal patches and other forms of cannabis oil to provide users with numerous consistent, controlled-dosage consumption methods.

“Medical cannabis is a great fit for Yellow Springs as it combines our local strengths and values of agriculture, wellness and a progressive approach to medicine,” said Karen Wintrow, Yellow Springs Village Council President. “We look forward to working with Cresco as they build and staff their new facility and know they will be a valued contributor to the quality of life in Yellow Springs with jobs and community support.”

Cresco has designed and will build a Modern Hybrid-Greenhouse designed to maximize the cultivation power of the sun and reduce the carbon footprint typically seen in indoor agriculture. The facility will also use Geo-thermal heating and cooling elements, LED lighting and 85% of its energy will be from renewable energy sources.

Culinary Evolution – Partnering with Award Winning Chef To Create Edibles Line

Award-Winning Chef Launches Marijuana Edible Products

(December 7, 2015) Illinois medical marijuana patients will soon have a line of decadent chef-crafted products to choose from with the announcement of James Beard Award-Winning Chef Mindy Segal’s new edible line.  Segal, owner of Chicago’s acclaimed Hot Chocolate Restaurant, is the first high profile, award-winning celebrity chef to attach her personal brand to products in the cannabis industry.

Segal is partnering with Cresco Labs, Illinois largest cannabis cultivator, to produce the products. They plan for the line of infused products to be available for distribution beginning in late February with a variety of delicious and accurately dosed edibles.  Her initial products will include a line of chocolate brittle bars, a line of infused granola bites, an infused chocolate drink that is intended to be warmed to enhance the soothing effects, and a ready-made mix with do-it-yourself instructions.

“We’ve all heard the expression ‘it tastes like medicine’ but there’s no reason it has to,” Segal said. “With my recipes and Cresco’s technology, we’re developing this line of products to be consistent every time and absolutely enjoyable to eat,” she added.

Segal loathes the term “celebrity chef”, but has become one anyway by the sheer originality of her work. From Martha Stewart to Oprah and GQ to the New York Times, she has made hundreds of media appearances consistently being recognized as the top of her field. In 2012, Segal was awarded the prestigious James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in the Country and has been nominated for this category five times prior.  She published her first cookbook, Cookie Love, in 2015 followed by a coast-to-coast media and book signing tour.

Giving back has always been on Mindy’s menu.  She has been active in the Greater Food Depository, Community Kitchens and Charlie Trotter’s Culinary Education Foundation. Mindy is now giving back to those suffering from chronic conditions by reinventing the marijuana-infused sweets industry.

“Having someone with Mindy’s name brand and credibility enter the cannabis industry says a lot about where this industry is headed,” said Charles Bachtell, Cresco Labs Founder. Mindy’s edible products will be available at licensed dispensaries across Illinois for patients approved with nearly 40 medical conditions.  Distribution agreements will soon have the branded products produced and available for purchase in five additional states.
